One of the series that completely conquered my heart in 2022 was the infamous Netflix Addams’s family adaptation, Wednesday. Our 3 children were charmed by the series as well, which made it impossible for me to not crochet a few fan art dolls! My friend Eliane (Les minis câlins) was even quicker than I was at adapting my Menagerie pattern into her very own fan art mini doll! And she made « The thing » too! She’s much more courageous than I am lol!
Of course I first started by working up tiny Wednesday! She was the easiest to put together and we all know how much I adore simple, easy things!
Especially when I need to make like half a dozen of them…
Aside from the stripped legs and white collar, there was very little to modify in order to adapt my base model into tiny Wednesday!
And if I didn’t have it in me to crochet a « Thing » to scale, I still couldn’t accept leaving Wednesday’s other BFF out of the fan art project… Enid the adorably bright werewolf!
I have to say though, I just adored how their friendship was portrayed in the series! I thought it did not promote the normalized toxic female friendship we have grown used to seeing in teen dramas.
We can be friends AND be different! Yay!
Enid, however, proved a lot more challenging than Wednesday because of her very unique and colorful style.
Indeed, throughout the series the character sports a variety of very bright, colorful, patterned outfits.
Which was awesome to violently illustrate how different both girls are and to bring a spot of color to the otherwise very dark atmosphere of the series…
But it would prove very hard to crochet all those bright stripes and colorful patterns… especially at the scale I am working with.
Therefor I had to settle for one of her more simple outfits.
And for those curious about Enid’s hair, I used eyeshadow to color the ends! Let’s be clear; the results are not permanent, but since those dolls are collectible that will mostly be for display, it should stay on for a while!
