Our crochet Universe – Valérie Clément of Inspire Creation!

With my « Crochet Universe » project, I have a unique opportunity to explore my Francrochet collegues from a different angle and this month it is Valérie Clément of Inspire Creation that I explore through my crochet.  Click here to read our mini interview! (French only)

I first « met » Valérie through Francrochet and I was immediatly charmed by how genuine she was. There’s no pretense with Valérie.

To begin the project, I looked through both her Facebook and Ravelry, mostly to get a good feel through all the available pictures. One of her latest batch, at the time this project was lifting off, were for her Vérité, with her bright pink hair immediatly catching my eye. After a quick sketch, I was ready to get the hook and yarn out!

But something felt wrong.

Each time I felt like the hair was done, I was unhappy witht the overall look of the Valerie doll… then I realised what the problem was! It was the actual hairdo, afterall Valerie was sporting a fabulous messy bun on the pictures I used as a reference!

I have to say I’m pretty happy with the end result! The few fly away strands framing the face of mini Valerie make her almost as pretty as the original human Valerie!

There was only a final « unicorn » touch to add to call this project done. Since mini Valerie already had the bright hair catching the eyes, I decided to make her a more discreet headband… but not too discreet!

You have to admit our Valerie « Unicorn » Clement is quite something with her bright glasses and magical hair!
