In a previous life I completed a Master’s degree in biology and I aimed to become a college teacher. And I was, for short period of time before my life changed course. Even now, 12 years later, I still find it amazing to see how different from « the plan » my life turned out.

Still, as I’m putting together my amigurumi workshop (French only) for the Festival de la P’tite laine, I just can’t help but remember the long days and nights of class and lap prep I use to go through to put together lessons for my biology students.

Luckily there won’t be any need for lab coats or sterile tools to work up our adorable little Totoro!

And, let’s be honest, it’ll probably be a lot more fun to spend 3 hours with our crochet work chatting away about amigurumi, fan art and books in a nice hotel rather than speak science in a smelly lab.

I still adore science, but it’s just impossible to pretend that labs don’t have a very peculiar smell… lol!

I already offer a number of crochet kits for sale during events and I really love putting them together.

Finding all the little tools and accessories is just a fun process for me! For this kit I gound these adorable little scissors and I am just in love with them!

Or the cute little metal yarn needles!

I also managed to source mini yarn skeins of Scheepjes yarn, which is the exact yarn I used when putting together my Ghibli fan art book!

Thanks a lot to Kayla of Les Mailles d’Or for the help! Having these tiny skeins will save us so much time when putting the kids together!

And these tiny yarn candies are just too cute!

When I started making tiny crochet dolls and fan art projects, I was bothered by the amount of yarn I had to purchase in ordr to have the colors I needed. I was more than happy when I discovered these tiny skeins!

Even if the cost was not a factor (and it is a factor) the amount of leftovers when the finished doll barely weights 20 grams, but you have to buy six different 50 grams skeins…

It’s not great.

So yeah, I’m quite happy I found these fow my October workshop!
