The cozy is worked flat.
Row 1) With brown, ch 28, turn and HDC in 2rd ch from hook and HDC to end, ch 2 and turn (27)
Rows 2-7) HDC to end, ch 2 and turn (27)
At the end of row 7, sl along the edge up to row 5 and then ch 11 and sl to row 3 to form the loop that will allow you to close you cozy around your mug.
Face Round 1) With beige work 6 sc in magic ring and join to work in the round (6)
Round 2) 2sc around (12)
Round 3) *2sc, sc* around (18)
Round 4) *2sc, sc in next 2* around (24) Finish off, leave long tail to sew to the center front of the cozy.
Ears (make 2)
Round 1) With brown, work 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Round 2) 2HDC around (12) Finish off, leave long tail to sew on each side of the cozy
Finishing & assembly
Embroider a black nose onto the face of the bear before sewing the face to the center front of the cozy. Sew two white buttons to form the eyes (you could also use felt or simply embroider eyes) and sew the ears in place on each side of the face, only sewing the bottom part of the ear to the cozy. Sew a button opposite the chain loop and you’re done!
