| Abbreviations st(sts) – stitch(stitches) ch – chain sc – single crochet 2sc – two sc in the same stitch (+1) sc2tog – two sc together as one (-1) | Material 2.5 mm hook Safety eyes (shown in 6 mm) Polyester filling Yarn needle Yarn – fingering weight cotton Rice ball – white, less than 10 g Sea weed – black, less than 5 g Cheeks – pink, less than 1 g Sesame seeds – beige and black, less than 1 g 2 stitch markers |
Gauge & instructions
Gauge isn’t important; make sure to use the appropriate hook for your yarn so that the stuffing isn’t visible. All parts are worked continuously, you don’t have to join at the beginning of each round, but you have to stack the increases (always work the increases in the increases from the previous row) so count the stitches as you go or use stitch markers. If you choose not to stack your increases, you will see the “seams” go around the work in a spiral.
Instructions
Rice ball
Round 1) With white yarn, work 6 sc in a magic ring and join to work in the round (6)
Round 2) 2sc around (12)
Round 3) *2sc, sc in the next 5* twice (14) Place a marker on each side of work in the 2sc.
Rounds 4-12) sc to marker, 2sc, sc to marker, 2sc, sc to end. (Stitch count increases 2 every round until you have 32 stitches) Make sure to always move your marker up as you go to stack the increases and you can add more rounds for a larger rice ball.
Round 13) sc around (32)
Insert eyes between rounds 9 and 10 leaving a 3 to 5 stitches space between them. Embroider mouth and cheeks.
Round 14) In the backloop only, sc2tog around (16) Stuff.
Round 15) sc2tog around until the opening is closed. Finish off, weave in ends.
Sea weed
Row 1) With black yarn, ch 13, turn, sc to end (12)
Rows 2-5) turn, ch 1, sc to end (12 stitches – 4 rows) Finish off leaving a long tail to sew the sea weed to the rice ball.
Assembly
Sew the sea weed at the bottom of the rice ball and then use beige and black yarn to embroider sesame seeds on both sides. Weave in all ends.

Une débutante en origami qui essayait de faire un patron de votre livre m’a demandé de l’aide, mais je ne comprends pas votre notation. Par exemple, vous dites au tout début: « Les parties sont travaillées en continu sans joindre au début de chaque tour, » mais dans le patron vous dites: « et joignez pour travailler en rond (6) ».
Est-ce qu’on travaille en spirale, ou en rangs fermés?
J’ai aussi eu du mal à saisir que « *2ms, ms dans les 5 prochaines m* deux fois (14) » signifiait « (aug, 5ms)*2 (14) » Puisque vous utilisez une notation différente de celle habituellement utilisée pour les patrons, ne pourriez vous pas donner sur votre site des explications plus détaillées, ou, mieux, une vidéo?
Ceci dit, les amigurumis de votre livre sont adorables, la débutante a commencé une noiraude et j’ai plusieurs commandes pour les Totoro!

Bonjour,
Pour votre première question, les amigurumi du livre Ghibli sont travaillés en spirale et non en rang fermés, en joignant quand même à la fin du tour 1, je trouve personnellement que le cercle magique se referme mieux.
Pour votre deuxième question, vous avez bien compris les instructions.
Il n’est malheureusement pas possible pour moi de produire des vidéos pour les patrons du livre de crochet Ghibli.
