Abbreviations 
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
HDC – half double crochet

Material
4.5 mm crochet hook
Button(1 cm) for closure
Yarn needle
Needle and thread (to sew the button(s) on)

Christmas tree – Decorative buttons or colored felt.

Worsted weight yarn
Santa: red (less than 10 g), black (less than 5 g), yellow (less than 2 g)

Christmas tree: less than 15 g of green.

Reindeer: in beige (less than 20 g), brown (less than 5 g) and red (less than 2 g)

Gauge & instructions
The cozy will be about 10 inches long (including the button tab) by 3 inches tall, this is about 3 stitches x 2.5 rows = 1 inch square. The cozy is worked flat.

Instructions

Santa
Row 1)
With red yarn, ch 28 and turn, starting one stitch from hook, HDC to end (27)
Rows 2-3) ch 2, turn, HDC to end (27) Change to black.
Rows 4-5)
ch 2, turn, HDC to end (27) Change back to red.
Rows 6-7)
ch 2, turn, HDC to end (27) After last row, finish off and weave in ends. Embroider yellow belt buckle and then work closing tab.

Christmas tree
Row 1)
With green yarn, ch 28 and turn, starting one stitch from hook, HDC to end (27)
Rows 2-7)
ch 2, turn, HDC to end (27) After last row, finish off and weave in ends. Use colorful buttons or felt cutouts sewn or glued on randomly as ornaments then work closing tab.

Reindeer
Row 1)
With beige yarn, ch 28 and turn, starting one stitch from hook, HDC to end (27)
Rows 2-7)
ch 2, turn, HDC to end (27) After last row, finish off and weave in ends. Make the antlers and then work closing tab.

Antlers (Make 2)
Row 1)
With brown yarn, ch 9, turn, sc x 6, ch 4, turn, sc x 3, sc in the last 3 sts of the starting chain. Finish off, weave in ends and sew centered at the top of the reindeer cozy leaving a 5-6 sts gap between them. Embroider a red nose using red yarn.

Work closing tab.

Closing tab
Join CC yarn at the end of row 3, ch 12, sl to the end of row 5. This will for the loop that will allow you to close your cozy around your mug. Finish off, weave in ends.
