With my « Crochet Universe » project, I have a unique opportunity to crochet my Francrochet collegues and in April had the pleasure to crochet Marie-Hélène Lavoie!

Marie-Hélène’s business is brand new, but already she’s developped a great presence in our little crochet world and it’s always great to see her enthusiasm for the work of our Francrochet colleagues.
Once again I really wanted to be able to put together a tiny Marie that had at least a fraction of the original’s passion and creativity!
This is a great thing about the Francrochet collaborations; I mostly get free reign of the project! It’s also the worst thing because I panic internally until they open up the doll and confirm I did a good job lol!
Last month I worked on tiny Lori and her tiny Serged dream coat, this month also gave me quite the challenge! Indeed, Marie-Hélène really wanted tiny Marie to have her very own hattie tee sweater…
A granny square sweater for a 3 inch doll… I often mention that when working at this scale we need to make some sacrifices… Or, you know, work with sewing thread and a 0.5mm crochet hook.
And I have neither the skill or patience to work with thread, or to work up a million granny squares. Kudos to Marie-Hélène because that sweater is GORGEOUS and I am SO jealous, but I’m impatient and I like tiny things because they usually work up « quicker ».
Therefor I decided to embroider little squares of color onto the doll to give the impression of squares.
As I’m writting this I still have to sew the labels onto the doll, but I already know I’ll have a hard time dropping tiny Marie off at the post office! She’s just too adorable!
Overall I think the embroidery worked fine for the sweater and I just adore her tiny red glasses!
