I have no clue how my teenager stumbled onto this anime on Netflix, but she loves it enough that she will watch it over and over again, happy to share the experience with the rest of us. Warning though; you need to enjoy completely absurd content lol!
I wanted to prepare something for her birthday and settled on making her a few tiny dolls to add to her ever growing collection.

First things first, I painted the safety eyes!
I know I’ve mentionned this quite a few times, but I have a lot of fun with this and it’s so easy to do! Buff the eye’s surface with a nail file (or you know, proper tools if you want) paint and varnish!
Seriously, it takes a few minutes and it adds a lot of personnality to the dolls!

I quickly worked up three little characters since it was mostly a play on colors. Of course I still had a bit of details to add, but I had faith things would work out.

The only element I was uncertain about were the sunglasses and hair clips I still had to make for the main character, Saiki Kusuo.
But then thought to use shrink plastic to make the sunglasses and hair clips, hoping I could make something to scale.
My first try did turn out a bit big and I also did not like that the sunglasses were opaque because of the paint I used. However, I then tried again using marker for the glasses and that gave me the perfect result! I will be using this technique again in the future!

While I did think to add an opening to sew the glasses to the doll, looking back I think it would have been better to use 2 openings so that the glasses would stay on more securely.
Still, they look quite good and the stitch holding them in place isn’t too obvious.
The hair clips were still a problem though because they were too small to punch a hole through for sewing…
I had to take a chance and use glue…

And it worked out quite well!
Of course this only works because they are not actual toys, but display figurines, but this works out fine because my teenager is long past her years of actually playing with her dolls… mostly. 😉

I ended up only making these three characters eventhough I’m certain she will ask me to complete her collection eventually.
This way I have options for the inevitable next time when I want to put together a gift for her!
Another fan art project well done, I think! Now, which character(s) would you like to see me crochet next? Let me know in the comments!
