Gratuit! Free!

Such a little word, but such a powerful word nonetheless. I surprise myself sometimes wanting to check out curious things when I see it… that tiny word: Free!

Followed closely by its dear friends « promotions », « sale », « percent off » etc. But « Free » is in a world of its own and can also be a great tool if you know how to use it!

If you’re reading this, you might have noticed that I’ve been putting up quite a few freebie patterns up on the blog as of late. Well, if I trust my website stats, someone’s obviously noticed lol!

But is it a good strategy for La rose du rang, a business I’ve been trying to get off the ground for about a decade… Well, by doing this I’m actually allowing myself to simply CREATE without the ever mounting pressure to SELL.

And even more!

I’ve been quite open about the fact that when you transform a creative passion into a business venture, there’s a very real danger to become burnt out. When every single stitch needs to matter and be a step foward a viral, money making pattern… because if it doesn’t, it’s useless and a waste of time.

This makes it impossible to keep creating! Well, at least for me it makes it impossible to feel creative at all. I like the little things, the simple things that are worked up quickly and make people smile… tiny things that you can slip into your pocket to calm down anxiety…

See all the free patterns here!

That’s actually the main reason I decided to share more patterns for free here on the website! Of course I also decided to make the PDF available for purchase on Ravelry for people who prefer that format and can afford to purchase them to support my business.

Thanks again for all those of you who can and choose to purchase my patterns and support La rose du rang!

Overall is it a good strategy to offer free patterns? Now let’s get one thing cleared up right away: I am not a marketing pro… or a pro at selling my brand at all. But this strategy is allowing me a « pressure free » creative space to work on cute tiny critters, share them and see the amigurumi my readers make using these patterns.

Sounds like a significative victory
