A few years ago, I made a post about the display frame I made for my stitch markers.

Even back then I was saying I would need to make a second one because I was already running out of space!

Somehow I managed with the one display… until the beginning of 2024.

At first I was going to grab another identical frame… but then I hesitated because I have more shelves and displays now and it’s getting a bit… busy so I felt white frames would look much better. Starting « new » would also give me a chance to fix certain things that were irritating to me, like the cork’s thickness to be able to display heavier things like my scissors.

I actually found everything I needed at the dollar store!

  • White acrylic paint
  • Contact cement
  • Frame fixation kit
  • Cork tiles (1 pack of 2 per frame)
  • Square wood canevas
  • Paintbrush

Two coats of paint later the wood canevases were ready and al that was left was to cut the cork tiles to size… and glue them to the inside of the wood canevases. And that’s where things got a bit complicated.

At first I did not think about needing glue to secure the cork to the wood. I ended up with painted frames, cork tiles cut to size… and no way to secure everything together!

I almost tried using the glue gun, but I was afraid it would end up clumping. In the end, I had to wait for the next day to head back to the store to figure out which glue would be best.

Once everything was glued, I ran into another problem… how was I going to be able to hang these frames to the wall?!

Since the canevases are meant to be painted, they don’t have any sort of fixation system on them and since I am using them « the wrong way », I can’t just use the border to hang them.

The solution ended up being another trip to the store to get a frame fixation kit from the tools section!

I am completely in love with the result!

The two frames I put together fit perfectly in the space where my previous frame was, but with the thicker cork tiles I can now display my scissors and stitch markers without something falling every two seconds!

Sadly at that point I had forgotten to take pictures of the process… and I was afraid I was going to run out of space because I thought it would be fun to also display some pins I collected over the years… I decided it was a sign that I should make two more!

I feel very happy when I look at all these little trinkets on the wall! Personnally, I also love the idea that all these little things that bring me joy can be easy to see… it’s giving me a chance to enjoy them even more!
